Position: Credit Union Manager

Reporting to: Board of Directors

Responsible for: Management of staff and volunteers (as appropriate)

Purpose: To provide overall management of the day-to-day operations of the Kennedy VA

Employees Federal Credit Union

Responsibilities:

  1. To promote the credit union and to act on its behalf in its dealings with members, partner organizations, and the general public.
  2. To manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the office and to ensure the membership is provided with a prompt and reliable standard of service at all times.
  3. Promotion of products and services of the credit union in such a way that the credit union is seen as an effective and efficient organization and a leader in the credit union movement.
  4. To develop, maintain and administer all operating policies and procedures for the credit union’s activities.
  5. Ascertaining the demands of members and ensuring the resources of the credit union are adequate and sufficient to meet those demands.
  6. The development and implementation of all policies, procedures, and decisions of the Board of Directors of the credit union and the achievement of agreed operational and strategic goals.
  7. To assist and work with the Board in identifying and establishing future sources of funding for the continued growth and development of the credit union.
  8. Ensure the Credit Union is abiding by all regulations.

Duties:

To establish and issue plans, policies, and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities.

To service the Board and develop and provide general advice and present matters requiring the decision of the Board.

To service the Committees and develop and provide general advice and present matters requiring the decision of the Committees.

To establish and implement a sound plan of organization of the assigned functions and to upgrade existing operations/systems where necessary.

To determine human resource requirements to perform assigned functions; to assist in selecting and maintaining qualified personnel in all positions. To recommend salaries for the same and to ensure the resources of the organization are adequate to meet the demands of members.

To determine and implement training programs for staff and to advise and assist staff in the fulfillment of their respective functions.

To prepare, implement and review the Strategic Plan and the annual operating and financial budgets and forecasts for the organization. To review or revise annual budget proposals and to submit annually to the Board for approval.

To foster favorable public relations between the credit union and the public in the conduct of its business.

To effectively link and coordinate all operational activities including technical, computer, delinquency, and credit, and to ensure at all times the professional and proper application of financial controls.

Achievement of the results set out in the agreed Budget and Strategic Plan and to expand the business of the credit union through the effective delivery of existing services and the implementation of new services and procedures.

The stewardship, effective management, and security of the assets including premises and all their contents. Hold/secure keys and combination numbers and act as a custodian of keys and combination numbers in security procedures. The management and control of cash and other resources and the provision of advice to the Board on investment of surplus resources.

Ensure that all statutory and board reports are accurately and promptly completed.

To ensure through the application of established systems and procedures that all records and internal systems are properly maintained and all services delivered accurately and promptly.

To possess a thorough knowledge of all systems and procedures.

The management and supervision of staff and where appropriate volunteers, including the enforcement of the credit union’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Location: Kennedy VA Employees Federal Credit Union office or any other location as determined from time to time

The position holder will be required to work occasionally outside normal office hours.
