I Want to Be in a Leadership Role

  • CEO (Chief Executive Officer) The President of the credit union.
  • COO Chief Operations Officer) Generally runs all of the operations, the teller line, the loan center, and call center.
  • CFO (Chief Financial Officer) - In charge of all the budget and financials for the credit union.
  • CIO (Chief Information Officer) - Head of technology for the credit union.
  • CPO (Chief People Officer) – In charge of all the employee benefits and policies of the credit union. Makes sure everyone gets paid.

I Am Creative

  • VP of Marketing – Designs and oversees advertisements and marketing plans for the credit union.
  • Marketing Specialist – Works with management and department heads to create marketing and social media plans for all the products and services.
  • Social Media Specialist – Creates regular content and monitors social media channels for the credit union.

I Like Numbers

  • VP Accounting – Oversees the management of all the credit union's financial accounts and ensures the accounting system is in check.
  • Accounting Specialist - Pays bills for the credit union and assists the CFO with numbers.
  • Audit Manager - Double checks all of the employees and departments are following procedures and policies correctly.
  • Audit Specialist – Conducts cash counts at branches, reviews loans to make sure all of the documentation is correct, and reviews accounts at the credit union.

I Like to Work With and Help People

  • VP Operations – oversees the branches and staff.
  • MSR (Member Service Specialist) - Someone who helps people and handles financial transactions (deposits, check cashing)
  • Mortgage Loan Specialist - Helps someone get a loan for a house.
  • Branch Manager - Supervises staff at a branch and makes sure everyone who visits has a great experience.
  • IRA Representative (Individual Retirement Account) - Helps individuals with retirement goals. You do want to retire someday right?
  • Business or Commercial Loan Officer - Helps small businesses in the community get loans. Think farmer, tire shop, and convenience store, etc.
  • Business Officer - Helps small businesses open checking accounts and manage their finances.
  • Loan Officer - Helps people in the community get loans for cars and things they need.
  • Teller - See MSR
  • VP Human Resources – Works with management to hire new employees of the credit union and benefits are provided to employees (think vacation time, insurance, and retirement plans).
  • Human Resources or Personnel Specialist – Assists management with benefits and time cards for all employees.

I Like to Fix Things

  • VP Facilities or Maintenance – Buildings need someone to manage them too. May work with managers on building new locations, reading blueprints and coordinating with general contractors.
  • Facilities Specialist - Makes sure the buildings are in top shape, the air conditioning is cold and troubleshoots any problems.

I Like Technology

  • IT Manager (Information Technology Manager) Manages all of the computers and technology for the credit union
  • IT Specialist – Works behind the scenes at a help desk to make sure your computer system is up-to-date, troubleshoots technical problems, and may reset passwords for employees.
  • Network Security - Manages the security of computers and technology for the credit union.

I Want to Work Behind the Scenes
(I like people I just don't want to work directly with them)

  • Collector - Someone who may have to call you to remind you to pay your bills on time.
  • Compliance Specialist - Reviews laws and regulations to make sure the credit union is following them.
  • Card Services Specialist - Helps people with ATM cards, debit cards, credit cards.
  • Call Center Representative - See MSR, but does this all via the telephone or through chat.
  • Security Officer - Oversees the physical security of employees and credit union visitors. Manages all of the camera systems and alarms.
